Academia, Industry and Consulting working together to design “Next Generation” supply chain strategies and develop specific solutions to today’s supply chain challenges

The Supply Chain Frontiers Project is designed to answer the critical questions senior executives confront in managing and evolving their supply chains in a much more risky and demanding world. It offers tremendous practical value to companies for a small investment of time and money.

You are invited to join us in the Supply Chain Frontiers Project as a Charter Sponsor. Our industry sponsors are companies involved in Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Consumer Products & Retail, Electronics & High Tech, Health Care & Life Sciences, Specialty Materials and Utilities.

Supply Chain Executives today face much different challenges and a much more demanding role than their predecessors. Supply chains are more global and diverse, have much greater risks, depend much more heavily on suppliers and key partners, have much different economic drivers and are an order of magnitude more complex. Yet the tools and models to support this demanding and fast changing environment have not kept pace. Executives need better tools and deeper insights into the alternatives and tradeoff involved with designing, managing and transforming their supply chains. As one supply chain chief executive recently said:

“We spend over $200 million in capital annually with an operating budget of over $2 billion. We have over 70% of the employees and 75% of the capital assets of the company. Yet we do not have the tools or frameworks we need to address the new challenges we face. The old cost and ROI stuff is helpful, but it really cannot address the risk and uncertainty envirionment we face and it does not address the complex tradeoffs involved. We are working harder than ever, but I am not confident we have the perspectives or insights we need. What could we save if our incremental decisions were better and fit with each other into a cohesive long term strategy? It's got to be worth millions?

The Supply Chain Frontiers Project was developed from this and similar discussions with a broad range of companies. The six month project has been focused to address the critical issues facing senior supply chain executives. In particular, the project will provide in-depth research and practical answers on:

>Design alternatives and tradeoffs
>Risk profiles and risk mitigation approaches
>Outsourcing and supplier options
>Technology solutions
>Industry specific challenges and solutions
>Frontier management practices
>Transformation strategies

It will also provide a confidential discussion environment both in person and on-line for executives to discuss their challenges and study findings with their peers and the project team. We hope you will decide to join us in this important effort.
